AIR TRANSPORT COLLEGE: THE 2-nd ACADEMIC YEAR

Air Transport College of Samara State Aerospace University (SSAU) welcomed new students entering a unique specialty course on Aviation Security and Safety.

A celebratory assembly devoted to the beginning of the new academic year took place on September 1. The management of Samara State Aerospace University and Kurumoch International Airport as well as the College teaching staff congratulated students on this occasion and wished them a success in their study. Those who had obtained top marks in the previous year also got award letters and grants founded by the Airport management.

Two more specialty courses on Transport Service Organization and Aircraft and Engine Maintenance have been introduced this year along with the existing ones on Air Transport Management (with a specialization on Aviation Security and Safety).

Notably, following the results of the 2007/2008 academic year, the students of the College have made rather good progress in their study. 18 out of 54 students have been rated “very good” and “excellent”, and 9 of the total number have obtained top marks only.

This 2008/2009 academic year, the Air Transport College has welcomed another 59 students.

Note:

The Air Transport College of Samara State Aerospace University (SSAU) was created in 2007 to expand the Aviation Training Centre of Kurumoch International Airport.

There is much demand in this country, presently unsatisfied, for highly-qualified aviation specialists of secondary and higher vocational level. With this regard, Kurumoch International Airport has taken the lead of the creation of the Air Transport Educational Complex in the Volga region. The initiative was seized by the Government of the Samara Region, the Volga Region Air Transport District of the Federal Air Transport Agency, the Volga Supervisory Department for Aviation of the Federal Air Transport Service and the Samara Region’s security agencies. As a result, the Air Transport College of Samara State Aerospace University (SSAU) was opened in 2007.

Initially, the Air Transport College offered specialty courses on Air Transport Management (with a specialization on Aviation Security and Safety). Some more new specialty courses have also been introduced this year.

The Air Transport College is now the first and only educational institution in Russia to train highly-qualified specialists in the field of transportation security.
